ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited (ANZ New Zealand) and Jarden have entered into a strategic alliance. This alliance includes assisting ANZ New Zealand customers to apply for a Direct Broking account. Opening a new individual or joint Direct Broking account is easy and convenient using this online application form.

NOTE: Jarden changed its name from First NZ Capital Securities Limited on 10 June 2019. The application forms (both online and manual) and certain emails you may receive from ANZ New Zealand refer to First NZ Capital Securities Limited. All references to first NZ Capital Securities Limited or FNZC are deemed to be references to Jarden Securities Limited or Jarden (as applicable).
As a requirement of opening a Direct Broking account, a Cash Management Trust (CMT) account will also be opened for you. The CMT is used as your default settlement/funding account for securities trading, sale proceeds and purchase payments.
What happens now
Before you start, you'll need to make sure you have the following information handy for the applicants applying today:
- Personal and contact information
- IRD number
- If an applicant has traded shares in New Zealand, their Common Shareholder Number (CSN)
As part of this application, you can nominate someone you know (an Authorised Representative) to trade securities on your behalf.

What happens after
Once received, your application will be reviewed and verified before your account is created. You should allow up to five business days for this process. As part of this application we may require additional information or additional forms to be submitted. The additional forms will be emailed to you, and we will be in touch if we need any additional information from you.
When your application has been approved and established, you will receive an email advising:
- Your Direct Broking Client Account Number
- Instructions for internet trading
- Direct Broking contact details if you require any assistance.
