Apply for a new Direct Broking account with FNZC

First NZ Capital Securities Limited (FNZC) is the provider of the online equity and bond trading service, known as Direct Broking.

ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited (ANZ New Zealand) and FNZC have entered into a strategic alliance. This alliance includes assisting ANZ New Zealand customers to apply for a Direct Broking account to access FNZC’s Direct Broking equity and bond trading service.

Opening a new individual or joint Direct Broking account is easy and convenient using this online application form.

Please note: this online application is only available for individual and joint account holders. If you are interested in opening a new Direct Broking account for a company, trust or partnership, please visit Direct Broking's website to download and complete an application form or call Direct Broking on 0800 805 777 to talk to one of their specialists.

As a requirement of opening a Direct Broking account, a Cash Management Trust (CMT) account will also be opened for you. The CMT is used as your default settlement/funding account for securities trading, sale proceeds and purchase payments.

What happens now

Before you start, you'll need to make sure you have the following information handy for the applicants applying today:

  • Personal and contact information
  • IRD number
  • If an applicant has traded shares in New Zealand, their Common Shareholder Number (CSN)

As part of this application, you can nominate someone you know (an Authorised Representative) to trade securities on your behalf.

What happens after

Once received, your application will be reviewed and verified before your account is created. You should allow up to five business days for this process. As part of this application we may require additional information or additional forms to be submitted. The additional forms will be emailed to you, and we will be in touch if we need any additional information from you.

When your application has been approved and established, you will receive an email advising:

  • Your Direct Broking Client Account Number
  • Instructions for internet trading
  • Direct Broking contact details if you require any assistance.
